Welcome, Wild Tribe, to my studio, Wild Earth and HeART!

I am Katie Hummel, designer and creator of wearable art for the wild at heart, and wall art for your home.

My art is infused with the wisdom and whimsy of Nature — hand-dyed with custom blends of wild-gathered botanicals, inspired by the feral grandeur of the Pacific Northwest.

I have come by my obsession with sustainable eco-culture, foraging, and a love for all things nature (and fey) the "honest" way — via inheritance.

Although I've long suspected my ancestral lineage traces back to wood-sprite descent, the more verifiable version is that I got to spend precious time growing up around my aunt — a veritable kitchen-witch — at her farm in Vermont, when I was still young, impressionable, and looking for meaning in life. She gave me that, and so much more!

My hope is that wearing my art, or inviting it into your home, will inspire in you a measure of that wild-spirited freedom and wonder, the loving hug of earth and forest that my aunt and the land continue to instill in me.

There is a unique kind of magic alive in creations sourced from the Earth and shaped by our hands and hearts — and I want to bring more of this magic to the world.

A Little About Me

I've always been a doodler, spending hours of my childhood drawing, sketching, and coloring. Even now, I never go anywhere without pencil and sketchbook in tow.

The seed of who I am has always been within me; I took this seed, planted in the fertile soil of my aunt's influence, and nurtured it through many stages.

I did acquire a BFA from Ashford College of Art & Design in my early twenties, but to be honest, my real education took place under the generous guidance of fellow creatives across different cultures. After college, I traveled half the globe and apprenticed myself to artists and artisans working with ink and paper, wood and clay, and just about any medium imaginable.
